Franklin is published by MOBIPROD, a French société par actions simplifiée with share capital of €1,000, registered with the Nanterre Trade and Companies Register under number 902 218 197, whose registered office is at 32 rue de Paris, 92100 Boulogne-Billancourt, France, the controller of your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what your rights are under the GDPR.

What we collect

Your account: email address (your sign-in identifier), first name, surname if you enter one, avatar, and a public handle generated from your first name.

Your phone number, if you add one: it is optional and attached to your account. No other user can see it, it is not used to sign in or to contact you for marketing, and it is not yet verified by text message. You can change or remove it at any time in the Account tab, under Phone number.

Your activity in the app: the names you rate and when, your filters and display preferences, your notification preferences, whether your account is public or private, and each time the Pro screen is shown (with where it was opened from) along with any purchase that followed (plan and date).

Your purchases: when you buy Pro, Apple sends us the transaction details: the plan, the purchase, renewal and expiry dates, the price paid and its currency, the store country, and any cancellation or refund. To link them to your account, the app passes your account identifier to Apple at the time of purchase. We never receive your name, your address or your card details: payment is handled entirely by Apple.

Your relations: the people you are connected to, pending requests, and the label you give them.

Moderation: if you report or block someone, we keep the report, its reason, your identity and that of the person concerned. The reported person never learns who reported them, but the report is not anonymous to us: that is what lets us act on abuse.

One optional answer: at the end of sign-up we ask how you heard about Franklin.

Your survey answers: if you answer a survey offered in the app, we keep your answers, linked to your account, together with the language and the version of the app. Answering is always optional. If you agree to be contacted again, we use your account’s e-mail address, for that purpose only.

Usage measurement: to understand how the app is used and improve it, we record the screens displayed, the buttons tapped, the time spent on some screens and alerts, and the steps completed in journeys (sign-up, Pro screen). These events are linked to an identifier drawn at random on your device the first time the app opens and, when you are signed in, to your account. They never contain the names you rate, what you type, or your e-mail address. This measurement is done with our own means, without any third-party tool or advertising tracker.

Usage measurements for security: to protect the service and prevent abuse, we record certain usage measurements of the app, linked to your account.

We collect no card details, no location data, no contacts from your address book, and we use no advertising trackers.

Who has access

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data.

Your name ratings are visible only to the relations you have explicitly connected with. Your first name, avatar and public handle are visible to people who search for you or receive your request.

We rely on Supabase for database hosting and authentication, on Resend to send sign-in e-mails, on Apple for app distribution and purchase processing, and on GitHub (Microsoft) to keep an encrypted backup copy of the database. These providers act on our behalf and are bound by the same protection obligations.

Where your data is stored

Your data is hosted on Supabase infrastructure, in the European Union, West EU (Ireland) region, running on Amazon Web Services. Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (TLS), and authentication tokens are kept in your device’s Keychain.

Two providers may process some data outside the European Union, in particular in the United States: Resend, which receives your e-mail address only to send you a sign-in code, and GitHub (Microsoft), which keeps a nightly backup copy of the database. This copy is encrypted before it leaves our servers, with a key held only by MOBIPROD: without it, the copy is unreadable, including to GitHub.

Some data never leaves your phone: if you use Franklin without an account, your ratings and filters stay on the device.

How long we keep it

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete it, your profile, your ratings, your relations and your preferences are permanently erased from our servers.

Backup copies are kept for thirty days and then deleted automatically: data you delete, or that is erased with your account, also disappears from the backups no later than thirty days afterwards.

We only keep, for three years, a record of the deletion: your email address, the date, and whether the account had been reported or blocked. It lets us prove that your request was handled and prevent an excluded account from coming back under the same address. It is then erased automatically.

Usage measurements for security are kept as long as your account exists, then for three years after its deletion, together with your email address. Like the deletion record, they rely on our legitimate interest in protecting the service.

Your phone number is erased as soon as you remove it from your account, and at the latest when the account is deleted. Pro screen measurements are erased after two years. Purchase information sent by Apple is kept for two years after the subscription ends, the lifetime purchase or the refund, then erased; when you delete your account, it is immediately detached from it. Usage measurement events are kept for thirteen months, then erased; when you delete your account, they are immediately detached from it. Your survey answers are kept as long as your account exists and erased with it; you can also ask us to erase them at any time.

Reports you have made, or that concern you, may be kept for up to twelve months after they are handled, to prevent repeat abuse. Like the deletion record, this rests on our legitimate interest in protecting other users.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, and to data portability. You may also withdraw at any time a consent you have given.

Much of this is exercised directly in the app: edit your profile, adjust your preferences, delete your account. For the rest, write to us at the address below; we answer within one month.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you may lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL), 3 place de Fontenoy, 75007 Paris, www.cnil.fr, or with the supervisory authority of your country of residence.

Minors

Franklin is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data about people under 15. If you believe we have, write to us and we will delete the account.

Advertising and partnerships

The app may present partner offers, always identified as such. Today this content relies on no advertising tracker and involves no sharing of your data with advertisers. Should that change, this policy would be updated and your consent obtained before any advertising tracking.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be flagged in the app.
